Google for Jobs has dominated our newsfeed recently, with their launch in the US last year, followed by Latin America, South Africa, India and Canada. They are certainly spreading their ‘recruitment’ wings.

By far the most interesting news this quarter has to be that Google are in the pre-launch phase for their ‘for Jobs’ feature in the UK. Yes, we said we’d be hot off the press with any UK launch news and here it is!

Where are they testing?

Our knowledge of analytics helps us to support you in understanding the candidate journey from the very first interaction they make with your brand. Using our incisive data sourcing strategies and intimate knowledge of the recruitment market, we now have exciting evidence from Google Analytics that Google are testing their ‘for Jobs’ feature in the following cities in the UK:

  • London
  • Crawley
  • Washington
  • Brighton
  • Edinburgh
  • Beeston
  • Birmingham
  • Bracknell
  • Maidenhead
  • Plymouth
  • St Helens
  • Stansted
  • Ware
  • Weybridge
  • Winchester
  • Dundee

What this means for the UK recruitment market

Our US clients have experienced an uplift in new users and genuine candidates applying for their roles, so it looks like the ‘for Jobs’ feature is one to anticipate. If the launch of ‘for Jobs’ is imminent then we have something to look forward to. Job boards will have to up their game to compete with Google’s search prowess.

Google only want to show one version of a job listing, therefore job boards will be competing to ensure that their version is the one that Google list. For employers, this can only mean a ‘win’ as their job listing will be shown on Google’s specific Job Search user interface.

Why should you use an expert in recruitment analytics?

We have worked closely with our US clients to get them ‘Google for Jobs’ ready – they have already had success in terms of the number and quality of clients applying for their advertised roles.

Our knowledge of the most effective tools and best practices is extensive and we use many analytics tools to perform our innovative analysis. This is what has enabled us to spot that Google are testing their ‘for Jobs’ feature on our doorstep.
