Applying for jobs is the 15th most popular activity online!

We've just started analysing data from 'How e are you?' the survey that we've been running to look at the habits of web users. So far over 12,500 people have taken the e-test on the site and discovered their e-score, e-group and the sites that internet users like them value most.

Part of the e-test involves users saying which activities they have, and have not, completed online. We asked about 30 online activities and here are the results so far - showing that applying for a job online is the 15th most popular activity - just below uploading photos to share and above participating on message boards:

This obviously isn't a definitive list of everything you can do online, but we think it's reasonably comprehensive and it's interesting to see where applying for jobs fits into the online landscape.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the data we can extract from 'How e are you?'. We can do lots of extra analysis on subjects such as the relationship between demographics and online activities, the variation in the use of technology by region and the online habits of different types of job seekers.

If you'd like to find out more then I'll be presenting results from the research at our conference 'Online Recruitment 2008 - the year ahead' on February 1st.

We're also in the process of producing a pdf report on the results of 'How e are you?' that details the results from 2007 and should come in at under £100 - please email me if you'd like me to keep you updated about this.
