The latest NORAS results feature 24 of the UK’s leading job boards and include two pieces of information on each site
Combining these two pieces of information helps recruiters determine which online recruitment site has the right audience for their recruitment needs and enables advertisers to get a better, more focused response to vacancies posted online. We’ll include some practical examples that show how you can use the data to choose the right online recruitment site in next month’s newsletter.
However, in addition to helping recruiters get a better response to online recruitment advertisements NORAS also identifies key trends amongst online job seekers.
The NORAS Winter 2005 results show that 64% of online job seekers that have applied for a job that they found on the internet obtained an interview (up from 59% in 2004) and that 51% of those at interview stage have gone on to get a job (up from 44% in 2004).
The 2001 census shows that 92% of the UK population is from a white ethnic group, 4% from an Asian ethnic group, 2% black, 1% mixed and 1% from a Chinese or other ethnic group.
NORAS Winter 2005 shows that 83% of online job seekers are from a white ethnic group, 5% from an Asian group, 4% black, 2% mixed and 1% Chinese.
These findings should allay the fears of some employers that advertising online excludes certain ethnic groups from the recruitment process and show that using the internet as a recruitment tool can be an effective way of helping to ensure diversity in the workplace.
NORAS shows that online job seekers now visit an average of six different job boards when actively looking for a job, down from seven in 2004. The results also show that 11% of repeat visitors state that they chose to revisit a particular site because they have previously got an interview or job through that site.
These findings suggest that candidates are beginning to base their visiting decisions on previous experiences of the different sites available and are becoming more familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of job boards in the UK.
The full NORAS results booklet features much more - over 40 data tables on 24 online recruitment sites and can provide you with a great insight into the way online job seekers are using the internet to look for jobs and the audiences of a some of the UK's leading job boards.
